Participation in CCNC/CES2025

10/01/2025

Hello! I’m Hiroki Mori (ymori), a first-year master's student at Kawaguchi Laboratory.

In January 2025, I participated in the IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference 2025 (CCNC2025) held in Las Vegas, USA. CNC 2025 is an international conference held annually in Las Vegas alongside the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This time, I had the opportunity to visit not only CCNC 2025 but also CES, so I would like to share my experience in this report.

Venue: Las Vegas

This time, I visited Las Vegas, a world-famous city known for its casinos and entertainment. The city’s dazzling neon lights and lively atmosphere were truly overwhelming. Beyond casinos, Las Vegas is home to numerous shows, restaurants, and tourist attractions, creating a surreal and dreamlike environment. While the city is also a hub for technological and business events that attract people from all over the world every year, I felt that entertainment was present wherever I went.

About CES

Upon arriving in Las Vegas, the first event I attended was CES, the world's largest consumer electronics and technology trade show. Held annually in Las Vegas, this event showcases the latest gadgets and groundbreaking technologies from over 4,500 companies, drawing immense attention from the tech industry. This year, more than 141,000 attendees gathered, with over 6,000 journalists covering the event, making it a truly global spectacle.

At the exhibition, I explored booths showcasing the latest automobiles, cleaning robots, sensing devices, 3D displays, robotic arms, beauty products, and even VR-based safety equipment. I also came across some unique keyboards, highlighting both innovation and functionality. The event was a fascinating glimpse into the future of technology.

About CCNC

From the second day onward, I participated in CCNC, which was held at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. CCNC is a conference where cutting-edge research on communication technologies, network systems, and consumer-oriented ICT technologies is presented, attracting industry experts and researchers from around the world.

Paper Presentation

At this conference, I presented my paper titled "Efficient Edge AI-based Annotation and Detection Framework for Logistics Warehouses," which was accepted as a Work-in-Progress paper.

This was my first time presenting at an international conference, and I was also the first speaker in the session, which made me extremely nervous. However, it was a valuable experience that helped me grow. Through this presentation, I realized the need to further improve my presentation skills and my ability to respond to questions in English. I plan to continue preparing for future challenges.

Other Memorable Presentations

CCNC featured many interesting presentations, but a few stood out to me.

One particularly impressive presentation was about a crowd detection method aimed at realizing a "Crowd Digital Twin." The study introduced an efficient and accurate way to collect crowd data on resource-constrained devices, presenting an innovative approach that considers the limitations of edge devices.

Another noteworthy presentation discussed "Collaborative Inference Utilizing Edge AI." It proposed a method to balance accuracy and latency, making it highly practical for real-world applications such as surveillance systems.

Both presentations provided valuable insights into overcoming current technological challenges, offering many ideas applicable to my own research.

Reflections on the Conference

Attending this conference allowed me to meet researchers and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds, providing great inspiration.

In particular, the poster session enabled direct interaction with other participants, allowing for valuable exchanges of ideas and discussions about each other’s research and technologies. This experience gave me new perspectives and further motivated me in my research.

The banquet also provided a casual setting to deepen connections with other attendees. Meeting researchers working in similar fields was one of the most rewarding aspects of this conference.

Exploring Las Vegas

After the conference, I took some time to explore the unique attractions of Las Vegas. Walking along the famous Las Vegas Strip, I enjoyed the grandeur of luxury hotels and casinos. The nighttime illuminations were particularly breathtaking, making me feel as if I had stepped into another world.

Conclusion

Participating in IEEE CCNC was an invaluable experience. Presenting my research, exchanging ideas with other researchers and industry experts, and deepening my understanding of the field significantly enriched my academic journey. The knowledge and connections gained through this conference will undoubtedly serve as valuable assets for my future research and career.

Additionally, being in Las Vegas allowed me to not only engage in academic activities but also experience the city’s vibrant culture and attractions, making the trip truly fulfilling. This experience has motivated me to continue taking on new challenges and striving for further growth.

I am already looking forward to presenting and networking at future conferences!

IEEE CCNC will be held in Las Vegas again next year!
